The Olswang Business Award Winner Elisabeth Murdoch with presenter Simon Cowell. Murdoch is the CEO and chairman of leading independent TV production group Shine which she co-founded in early 2001. She began her career in television at the Nine Network in Australia as a researcher in 1990. Following a string of successful appointments at various television networks, Elisabeth joined British Sky Broadcasting as General Manager in 1996. She was then appointed Managing Director of Sky Networks. Royal Bank of Scotland Project Management Award winner Jane Wright, with presenter Richard Armitage. Wright is Head of Rights and Commercial Affairs for BBC Films. Formerly Head of Business Development, Wright’s role sees her managing BBC Films’ commercial interests and raising co-production finance for feature films. She joined the BBC in 1995 working in co-production and sales in the New York office and then in business development at BBC Films in London. Panalux Craft Award Winner Jet Omoshebi with presenter Ashley Walters Omoshebi started her career in postproduction as a sound assistant before moving to Rushes post production as a Telecine Assistant in 1990 progressing to colourist after three years. For the next ten years, Jet worked as a senior colourist at a number of companies. She joined Pepper in 2004 and is instrumental in the design and build of Pepper’s Spirit Datacine 2K. Her film and TV projects include Tsunami: The Aftermath, Life on Mars and Cranford. BBC News and Factual Award winner Lyse Doucet with presenter His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Rahim Sherzoy. Doucet is a presenter and correspondent for BBC World television, BBC World Service radio and is a regular presenter on BBC’s Have Your Say and presents HARDtalk. She is often deployed to anchor special news coverage from the field, such as the aftermath of the tsunami disaster, the illness and death of Yasser Arafat and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2003, Lyse was awarded a Silver Sony Award for News Broadcaster of the Year. Presenter Evanna Lynch, who picked up the UK Film Council Script Award on behalf of winner J K Rowling, pictured with WFTV Chief Executive Kate Kinninmont. Author of the Harry Potter series, Rowling’s books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold nearly 400 million copies. She has become a notable philanthropist, supporting such charities as Comic Relief, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain and One Parent Families. The last four Potter books have been consecutively the fastest-selling books in history. |
FIVE Creative Originality Award winner Julia Davis with presenter Sharon Small. An English comedy writer and performer, Davis has starred in many comedy television shows in the UK. In 2004, she wrote and starred in the highly acclaimed dark comedy Nighty Night, which returned for a second series on BBC Three in 2005. In more serious roles Davis has starred in the BBC productions For the Love of God, The Alan Clark Diaries, Fear of Fanny, and new Jane Austen adaptation, Persuasion. Talkback Thames New Talent Award winner Natasha Braier with presenter Gurinder Chadha. Since graduating from the NFTS in cinematography, D.O.P. Natasha has steadily and consistently been perfecting her craft working all over the world. She has shot numerous award-winning shorts, the most recent of which, Lucia Puenzo’s XXY won the Critics Week Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Natasha is currently working with director Shane Meadows on his next film Somers Town. ITV Achievement of the Year Award winner Tess Alps with presenter Danny Dyer. Alps is the chief executive of Thinkbox, the UK's marketing body for commercial broadcasters. Formerly, she was Chairman of the PHD Group in the UK and joint Chairman of OPera, Omnicom’s media investment company. She began her career in TV sales, becoming ITV Sales Director in 1989. Alps also sits on the CAP General Media Panel for the ASA, the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International TV Festival board and writes a regular column for the Guardian on advertising. Ecosse Films Contribution to the Medium Award winner Alison Owen with presenter Benedict Cumberbatch. Owen is a British film producer whose trademark is an infectious commitment to every project she produces. Her producing credits include Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Roseanna’s Grave, Silvia, Shaun of the Dead, Proof, Brick Lane and the upcoming The Other Boleyn Girl. In 1998 she won the BAFTA for the Best British Film of the Year for Elizabeth. |
