WFTV Some Like It Short: From Pre-Production to Post Production

In the third session in this series, host Jayne Chard and Producers Rachel Richardson Jones and Chi Thai, will be covering the practical processes of making your short film, moving from pre-production to production and postproduction.

The discussion will give advice and tips on creating and managing the budget and schedule; casting; health and safety; crewing up; contracts; hiring kit; locations; creating assets and the role of the producer during the shoot and post production.

Rachel Richardson Jones

Producer

Rachel runs the production arm of Grimmfest film festival. With over thirty years’ of industry experience she is experienced in script development, production, film finance, sales, distribution and exhibition.

Her company develops and produces feature films from Grimmfest Alumni. Rachel has produced several feature films including, A Very British Christmas, The Blood Lands and Habit. She has a slate of feature films in development.

Chi Thai

Producer

A recipient of the BFI Vision Award, Chi is an independent filmmaker and producer. A three times Cannes Lions finalist, she is part of the Guiding Lights alumnus and an invited participant to Network@LFF 2019. Her company was listed in Creative England’s Top 50 companies.

Current projects include: an adaptation of the Caldecott winning picture book Me… Jane by Patrick McDonnell; an adaptation of Dark Chapter by Winnie M Li and a BBC commission to adapt The Promise by Nicola Davies and Laura Carlin.

Jayne Chard

Producer at Hummingbird Films

Jayne has produced feature films Two Heads Creek (2020); B&B, the winner of nine awards at international festivals and Best LGBT Film at the London Independent Film Festival (2017); Dartmoor Killing, Best Thriller at the 2016 National Film Awards. Jayne has also worked as a TV producer on the BAFTA winning series Casualty and documentaries for UK broadcasters. Through her company Hummingbird Films, Jayne has a number of films and Tv projects in development.
