WFTV Some Like It Short: Storytelling and Script Development

In this new event strand, WFTV Some Like It Short, hosted by producers Jayne Chard and Keira Malik, we will hear from female filmmakers who will be sharing their knowledge and experience on how to make an effective and compelling short film. Through this five-part series, every stage of the film making process will be covered from script development to the final production of your film.

In the first session, script editor, writer and producer Daisy Allsop will be talking to host Keira Malik about her experience in the industry and sharing her expertise on scriptwriting and story development.

Daisy will discuss the basic structure of good storytelling, how to work with producers and directors, what to expect when you get notes and share her tips on how to implement them.

Script Editor, Writer and Producer

Daisy Allsop

Daisy is a writer, script editor and producer with 20 years’ industry experience. Daisy’s most recent film as a Producer, is Tell It to the Bees, a BFI funded drama starring Anna Paquin and Holliday Grainger and premiered at TIFF.

She began her career in development and distribution. As head of development for Feel Films, she managed a slate of literary adaptations including Skellig and The Song of Names. As a writer she is represented at Casarotto Ramsay. Her screenplay The Aquarium has multi Oscar nominated Sylvain Chomet attached to direct.

Keira Malik

Keira’s work lies in films that raise discussions and awareness of social and political issues as a call to action. Keira works in drama and factual, she has produced award winning documentaries for BBC, C4 and most recently, since moving to Bristol, on the Emmy award winning Our Planet Halo series for Netflix with David Attenborough.
