Eric Ravilious – Drawn to War, a Margy Kinmonth film, is a true story. One of Britain’s greatest landscape artists, Eric Ravilious, is killed in a plane crash while on commission as Official War Artist in Iceland in 1942. His life is as compelling and enigmatic as his art, set against the dramatic wartime locations that inspire him. This film brings to life this unique and still hugely undervalued British artist caught in the crossfire of war 80 years ago, whose legacy largely sank without trace, until now…
This is the first full length feature documentary about Eric Ravilious, told in his own words through previously unseen private correspondence. Shot entirely on location in UK, Portugal and Ireland, the film features Ai Weiwei, Alan Bennett, Grayson Perry, Robert Macfarlane, Freddie Fox, Tamsin Greig and many more.
This WFTV event is presented in partnership with Foxtrot Films & Dartmouth Films with the support of Directors Cut Films.

Kate Davis started her career in Post Production as a runner at BBC Birmingham, where she originally progressed down the picture route to assistant editor on their drama output. During this time, she felt a calling to the Dubbing Studios where she would watch and listen quietly at the back, and her passion for sound was born. She then spent 6 years in a dark room editing dialogues for Dalziel & Pascoe and Dangerfield, after which time, a slide into the factual and entertainment genre had her mixing The Hairy Bikers, Countryfile and Gardeners World within a few years. Since her move to Directors Cut Films as Head of Sound in 2012, she has mixed some of the UK's highest rating entertainment shows, including DNA Journeys, Travelman, and Great Canal Journeys, as well as impactful factual docs Extinction: The Facts, Bin Laden: The Road to 911 and The Last Mountain. Kate was nominated for a Bafta in 2019 for her work on Classic Albums - Amy Winehouse: 'Back to Black'.
Maureen Murray is a founder member and former Board Member of WFTV UK, a Producer Member of The Production Guild of Great Britain and BAFTA, a graduate of the European Audio-Visual Entrepreneurs and alumna of the European Film Business School.
