About the Event

For WFTV’s first Meet the Commissioner (Scripted) of the year, we will be joined by Amy Buscombe, Commissioning Editor for the 7+ audience at BBC Children’s.

In conversation with Louise Ogunnaike, Amy will be discussing the current landscape of scripted drama in children’s TV, her thoughts on what makes a great show and sharing insights on how to get a project commissioned.

Amy’s recent commissions include Jamie Johnson, Malory Towers, So Awkward and Dodger.

Amy Buscombe is a Commissioning Editor for the 7+ audience at BBC Children’s, working across narrative comedy and drama.

Current titles include hit football drama Jamie Johnson (Short Form Film), classic boarding school series Malory Towers (King Bert), and comedy favourite So Awkward (Channel X North).  2022 saw launches for family comedy adventure Dodger (Universal International Studios) and fantasy mystery Silverpoint (Zodiak Kids), with new school drama Phoenix Rise (BBC Studios Kids & Family) set to launch on BBC iPlayer in 2023.  Before stepping up to Commissioning Editor, Amy was Senior Drama Producer within the same team.

Previous roles before joining BBC Children’s include Head of Development at LA Productions, working across Jimmy McGovern’s BAFTA and International Emmy nominated film Commonand BBC One Daytime series Moving On and Justice, and a variety of roles across BBC writersroom, Radio Drama and BBC Commercial Rights.

Louise Ogunnaike, Development Executive, SISTER

Louise joined SISTER in Nov 2020 as a Development Executive working closely with the core team to continue to build a slate of bold and exciting projects. Always passionate about stories that are heartful and authentic, she particularly loves to champion and work with diverse writers. Representation is very important to her and she pushes for that in all aspects for her work. Prior to SISTER, Louise began her career in theatre & film and most recently worked at BBC Children’s across Development & Production.

How will the online event work?

This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask their questions to the panel by using the Q&A feature.
