THE SCRIPT SHOWCASE
To spotlight and support emerging female writing talent last year WFTV launched our inaugural screenwriters’ lab in memory of Kay Mellor. The five-day lab brought together 13 screenwriters in October 2023 at the Arvon Foundation’s Lumb Bank house for a programme of craft writing masterclasses, tutor-led workshops and independent writing time to work on their scripts.
Join us for this special event to meet the writers of the 2023 WFTV Kay Mellor Screenwriters’ Lab and hear a live reading of some of their work by professional actors.
Following the readings there will be networking over drinks with WFTV members and industry colleagues.

ACTORS CALL OUT
If you are an actor within the WFTV membership, we would like to invite you to register your interest to take part in the Script Showcase. We are looking for a group of actors to deliver the readings. This is a paid opportunity.
We are looking for professional actors within the WFTV membership to deliver a live reading of scripts written by the 2023 cohort of writers who took part in the WFTV Kay Mellor Screenwriters’ Lab.
Actors will be asked to perform a live reading of extracts from 3-4 scripts and will be given material in advance to review and prepare ahead of the showcase.
Actors must be available to attend a virtual rehearsal taking place online on Monday 8 April (13:00-15:00) as well as the event date Thursday 11 April from 18:00 – 20:00.
