NFTS Invite to Seeing, Being and Being Seen: Building Emotional Immersion in XR Narratives Masterclass

Seeing, Being and Being Seen: Building Emotional Immersion in XR Narratives | Tuesday 31st August 2021 | 5pm BST (BOOK)

Veteran VR/AR narrative designer Rob Morgan will discuss narrative design for immersive experiences, and the often counter-intuitive ways that classic storytelling techniques work differently in XR.

How do you design compelling stories when your protagonist and your audience is the same person? What happens when your story takes place in the audience's own neighbourhood? Drawing on more than a decade of experience designing narratives for VR and AR, writer and Digital Dramaturg Rob Morgan will outline some key techniques for creating and sustaining emotional immersion in immersive experiences. Rob will cover some of the counter-intuitive ways that classic storytelling techniques must be adapted to new immersive media.

Presented by NFTS Scotland and The Glasgow School of Art, with support from StoryFutures Academy and Creative Scotland, as part of the Artists Into Immersive training and masterclass programme (Apply Here)

NFTS invite to #ArtistsIntoImmersive free masterclass

Darkfield | Tuesday 17th August 2021 | 5pm BST (BOOK)

This masterclass will give insights into the DARKFIELD journey and will cover key concepts and practices, as well as a Q&A, with Co Artistic Directors David Rosenberg and Glen Neath.

DARKFIELD produces innovative immersive experiences at the forefront of technology and theatre - both location based experiences and digital work. DARKFIELD’s location-based work utilises striking sets inside shipping containers, binaural 360 degree sound, complete darkness and a variety of sensory effects, where each participant is situated at the centre of an intense, evolving narrative. DARKFIELD RADIO brings DARKFIELD’s work and binaural audio into the audience's environment via a phone app - their home, their car, their local park become the setting for a strange world to unfold around them, stealing them away from reality.

Alongside partners around the world, DARKFIELD is touring the work in the UK, Australia & New Zealand, Canada, South Korea and Mexico and have so far reached over 250,000 audience members worldwide, and counting.

Presented by NFTS Scotland and The Glasgow School of Art, with support from StoryFutures Academy and Creative Scotland, as part of the Artists Into Immersive training and masterclass programme (apply here).
