WFTV Chair, Liz Tucker was in conversation with Danny Horan, Head of Factual at Channel 4 who shared his thoughts about what makes great television and explain what you need to do to get that elusive commission.
Danny’s department is responsible for a wide range of shows including 24 Hours in Police Custody, First Dates, Grayson Perry’s Art Club, The Dog House, Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain, Undercover Police: Hunting Paedophiles, Barrymore: The Body in the Pool and 100 Vaginas.

Short Film Club is an event series spotlighting some of the best short films for WFTV members. Showcasing the work of filmmakers based around a theme, you will have the opportunity to watch the films selected for the Short Film Club, hear from the creators behind them and join in the conversation.

Hosted by WFTV and in partnership discover.film, a global streamer dedicated to short form content, this Short Film Club will be chaired by Katie Bailiff, WFTV’s CEO, and chaired by Jaine Green, Head of Content at discover.film. Bringing together the directors Maryam Mohajer, Natalia Mirzoyan and Hannah Dougherty in this event they will discuss their short films, developing distinct animation styles to tell their stories and creative insight to the making of the films.
Writing and Directing Horror with Prano Bailey-Bond

Prano Bailey-Bond, co-writer and director of Censor, joins Wendy Mitchell for a conversation around her debut feature Censor.
Censor is a psychological horror set in 1985 that follows film censor Enid. Meticulous in her work, Enid is assigned to review a disturbing film from the archive that echoes her hazy childhood memories and she begins to unravel how this eerie work might be tied to her past.
We’ll hear about Prano’s journey from making short films to her first feature film, her inspirations and insight to the writing process with her co-writer Anthony Fletcher. The conversation will also explore her collaborative process with lead actress Niamh Algar, and the discussions that they had around Enid as well as working in the horror genre as a female director.
The Global Festival Circuit: An update with Katie McCullough, Festival Formula

The global film festival was shaken up in 2020, with global social distancing restrictions resulting in cancellations and the shift to online. As those restrictions have been updated in 2021, many of this year’s festivals have gone ahead under a variety of ways - online, hybrid schedules and in person.
Checking in with Katie McCullough from Festival Formula, in this session we’ll discover what models festivals have embraced from 2020 and are here to stay. Leading us through live case studies of festivals that have been able to go ahead in 2021, Katie will be providing an insight into the new opportunities that these festival adaptions offer. From choosing the reach of your submissions to being able to attend a festival around the world from the comfort of home, there will be plenty to explore.
