1-2-1 Clinic: Business Affairs with Sally Shell

Sally Shell, Founder of business affairs consultancy Rights Angels, will be running a 1-2-1 clinic for members with any questions in relation to business affairs.

This 1-2-1 clinic is designed as a one to one forum to discuss any contractual issue that you might have around intellectual property and copyright, financing, development and production agreements and clearances. Sally can also offer help to producers who are commissioning writers, optioning books, or engaging the services of freelancers for projects.

Sally will be offering 5 x 20 minutes slots to WFTV members. In order to maximise the opportunity, we ask that you submit in advance a short bio and a summary, or up to 3 questions outlining what you’d like to discuss.

This 1-2-1 clinic will be carried out via Zoom, or phone upon request.

Sally Shell qualified as a barrister a long time ago and has over 25 years legal and business affairs experience from independent commissioning at the BBC in the early ‘90s, to Head of Business Affairs for Wall To Wall and Head of Commercial and Legal Affairs at Darlow Smithson Productions where she helped with strategic growth prior to its first sale to IMG.

Sally has been the architect of a number of ground breaking access deals culminating in high profile projects such as 127 Hours, The Diary of Anne Frank, Thriller in Manila and Stephen Hawking: Grand Design.  She has co-production financing and production experience across international factual, animation and scripted programming and has a current particular interest in script development and book options.

Production projects have included LA 92, Peaky Blinders, A Syrian Love Story, Mr Bean, The Moomins, Patrick Melrose, Black Sheep, War of the Worlds, The One and Extinction, for clients including Tiger Aspect, Two Cities Television, Lightbox, BBC Studios and Urban Myth Films, and Sally also enjoys working with smaller production companies, individual talent and rightsholders.
