About the Event
WFTV members are invited to attend a screening of new documentary A Fox Under a Pink Moon, directed by Mehrdad Oskouei & Soraya Akhlaghie Chang-dong. The screening will be followed by a Q&A.
At just 16, Afghan artist Soraya creates haunting drawings and sculptures while fighting to escape Iran and reunite with her mother in Austria. Married to a violent man, she’s determined to reclaim her future. Directed remotely by Mehrdad Oskouei, this intimate film captures five years of escape attempts through footage Soraya records herself, blending personal moments with political events, artwork and surreal animation. Art becomes her refuge and means of expression, transforming fear, hope and trauma into powerful creations. Recurring figures, a loyal fox, a watchful pink moon and a laughing clown, reflect her resilience and inner world.
