A director summons his favourite actresses, to make a film about women but doesn't reveal much: he observes them, takes cues, and draws inspiration, until his imagination catapults them into a past era where the sound of sewing machines fills a workplace run and populated by women. Amidst loneliness, passion, anxiety, heartbreaking absences, and unbreakable bonds, reality and fiction intertwine, as do the lives of the actresses and those of the characters.
