RTS Yorkshire invites WFTV members for a special evening with multi-BAFTA-winning creator, writer and director Sally Wainwright, to celebrate her remarkable career and her latest series, Riot Women.


Riot Women is Sally Wainwright’s forthcoming six-part series for the BBC/Drama Republic, due to be broadcast in October 2025 on BBC One and iPlayer. Set in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, the drama follows five women of a certain age who form a punk-rock band to compete in a local talent contest. As they navigate demanding jobs, complex relationships and societal expectations, their friendship, music and resilience become catalysts for change. The series features original music, and is led by an impressive cast: Joanna Scanlan, Rosalie Craig, Tamsin Greig, Lorraine Ashbourne and Amelia Bullmore.
