About the Event

Jane Tranter, co-founder of award-winning production company Bad Wolf and the woman behind Succession, I Hate Suzie, Industry and His Dark Materials, shares her career journey with WFTV’s Mentoring Producer for Wales Hannah Corneck. Before setting up the Cardiff based indie and studios in 2015 with Julie Gardener, Jane was responsible for the Russel T Davies reboot of Dr Who, the spy drama Spooksand the political thriller State of Play. Now working between the UK and Bad Wolf’s Hollywood offices, Jane is an advocate for women writers and directors who want to change the scripted landscape.

Jane Tranter is one of the industry’s most respected and celebrated television execs. A recipient of the BAFTA Special Award for her contribution to television, Tranter previously served as the BBC’s Head of Fiction and Executive Vice-President for Programming and Production at BBC Worldwide. In 2015 she founded production company Bad Wolf with Julie Gardner, with the purpose of creating ambitious, imaginative and relevant drama for the UK, US and Global TV markets. Bad Wolf is the result of over 15 years of creative collaboration between Tranter, Gardner and the production and creative community of Wales, which first began with the relaunch - and relocation to Cardiff - of Doctor Who in 2005, and this strong regional identity remains at the heart of their work. Tranter’s recent credits include The Night Of (HBO/BBC), Succession (HBO), A Discovery of Witches series 1-3, BAFTA award winning series His Dark Materials(BBC) and critically acclaimed series I Hate Suzie (Sky), with banking drama Industry currently on BBC and HBO.

Hannah Corneck, Host, is WFTV’s Mentoring Producer for Wales. Hannah’s career started in journalism before moving into factual production where she worked for over 20 years launching and producing shows like DIY SOS: The Big Build, Comic and Sport Relief documentaries and cookery series with Michel Roux Junior, The Hairy Bikers and Tom Kerridge. She is now a coach, professional development designer and trainer who supports people working in the creative industries to be their best, most fulfilled and confident selves.
