Meet the Commissioner (Scripted): Nana Hughes, Head of Comedy, ITV

In this event, Nana Hughes, Head of Comedy, ITV, will be discussing the current landscape of scripted comedy in TV, her thoughts on what makes a great show and sharing insights on how to get a project commissioned.

Nana’s recent commissions include Deep Fake Neighbour Wars, Count Abdullah, Ruby Speaking, Significant Other, The Family Pile and PLEBS: The War.

Nana Hughes, Head of Comedy, ITV

Nana is a BAFTA, RTS & Broadcast award winning comedy Executive Producer and founder of indie, Saturday's Child. Prior to that, she was Head of Comedy at Talkback and Head of Development at Retort, where she exec produced Chewing Gum. She started her career in comedy and entertainment before joining C4 as Deputy Commissioning Editor, for comedy and entertainment. Nana is now Head of Comedy at ITV and her recently announced projects for ITVX Include; Deep Fake Neighbour Wars, Count Abdullah, Ruby Speaking, Significant Other, The Family Pile and PLEBS: The War.

Host

Janet Awe helps writers, production companies and broadcasters develop and produce their original TV shows and films, particularly specialising in comedy. She has a screenwriting background which gives her a real affinity with writers, and she loves helping them blossom alongside their scripts. After working at a broadcaster and then freelancing as a development producer and script editor for a number of years, Janet was delighted to join the brilliant Merman family last year working in its comedy development team and as assistant producer on an upcoming TV show.
