In this strand of WFTV events, members are invited to Meet the Producer. This session will feature our host and fellow producer Michelle Stein in conversation with Executive Producer for TV Dramas, Frith Tiplady.

Michelle and Frith will discuss Frith’s career path, along with any current trends she’s noticing within the industry, and insights on funding and developing projects.

There will be an opportunity to ask Frith questions during the last 15 minutes of the session.

Moonage Pictures

Moonage Pictures was founded by Will Gould, Matthew Read and Frith Tiplady in 2018 with the aim to create and produce original, unconventional, and inventive television and film for both the UK and international markets. Currently in production on a new eight-part Guy Ritchie series for Netflix, The Gentlemen, set in the world of his movie with the same name, starring Theo James (White Lotus), Kaya Scodelario (Crawl), Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul) and Vinnie Jones. Also in production are the adaptations of the graphic novel Bodies, for Netflix, The Leopard for Netflix Italy (in partnership with Indiana Production), and A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder for the BBC.  Recent productions include Emily Mortimer’s critically acclaimed adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love for BBC One and Amazon and Josephine Hart’s novel Damage as Obsession for Netflix which launched in April.

About Frith Tiplady, Guest Producer

Prior to Moonage Pictures, Frith was the co-MD of Tiger Aspect Drama having joined the company as Head of Production in 2006. Her list of credits has included Peaky Blinders, Fortitude and Ripper Street. Other programmes include The A Word, My Mad Fat Diary, Robin Hood, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Blood & Oil, The Boys are Back and the BAFTA winning single films Marvellous and White Girl. Previously, Frith worked as a freelance line producer on such shows as Clocking Off, Sparkhouse, Burn It, Flesh & Blood and Brookside.

About Michelle Stein, Host Producer

Michelle is s BAFTA, RTS nominated and BIFA winning producer.  Her most recent feature film, sci-fi Sky Peals, from Moin Hussain premiered in Venice Critic’s week in 2023 and was backed by Film4, BFI and Screen Yorkshire and is being sold by Bankside.  Over the last 16 years, Michelle has worked on a plethora of projects from producing a micro-budget first feature that secured international theatrical distribution to developing a big-budget animation franchise with Aardman.  Michelle has a keen eye for international-level talent and has produced content that has screened in competition at A-list festivals such as Cannes, SXSW, LFF and Tribeca and been bought by the BBC and Sky.  Michelle’s previous company, Escape Films, was the recipient of a received a BFI Vision Award.

How will the online event work?

This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions by using the Q&A feature.
