About the Event

Presented by railway historian Tim Dunn and Siddy Holloway from the London Transport Museum, Secrets of the London Underground explores the world’s oldest underground system. Taking viewers to the hidden depths of the capital’s tube network, the series reveals the histories and people who designed it and offers unique access to the workings of the modern Underground which continues to be regularly used by millions.

Hosted by Jenny Priestley, we will be joined by presenter Siddy Holloway, executive in charge of production and co-founder of Brown Bob Productions, Nicki Gottlieb, series producer Emma Griffiths, deputy director of commissioning and head of factual & factual entertainment at UKTV, Hilary Rosen, to discuss the making of the series and share behind the scenes insight into the production.

Secrets of the London Underground starts on Monday 19 July at 8pm on Yesterday.

Nicki Gottlieb is the co-founder and CEO of Brown Bob Productions. Nicki is the business brain of Brown Bob Productions. She not only leads on business strategy and expansion she oversees Legal and Business Affairs, Production Management and the Accounts teams. Her responsibilities include negotiating all deals, making major corporate decisions and managing the overall operations and resources for all the companies.

Siddy Holloway was born in Iceland. She starred in the Icelandic Canadian film Regina in 2002 and later moved to Argentina in 2008 to study acting and Spanish, and the UK in 2010 to train at Rose Bruford College. A lover of London history and forgotten stories, she joined the London Transport Museum in 2015. In her time there, she co-developed all the Hidden London tours, co-authored the book Hidden London: Discovering the Forgotten Underground, published in 2019 and was a key team member behind the award-winning Hidden London exhibition. She manages the Hidden London guide team and is always hunting for new exciting sites to turn into public tours. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Siddy started the popular YouTube series Hidden London Hangouts and created the Hidden London virtual tours. Siddy also works as a voiceover artist and has lent her voice to films, TV series, commercials and video games.

Hilary Rosen is deputy director of commissioning and head of factual & factual entertainment at UKTV. She has commissioned and executive produced award-winning shows for UKTV including, BAFTA-winning Taskmaster for Dave, W’s longest running original series, Inside the Ambulance, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, and The Architecture the Railways Built, one of the most popular series on Yesterday.

Prior to joining UKTV, Hilary was creative director at Silver River, devising formats including The Town That Never Retired (BBC 1) and overseeing Inside Gatwick (Sky 1). Her career has also encompassed ten years as a senior executive producer at Lion Television overseeing a raft of popular factual shows and documentaries, and a decade in BBC News and Current Affairs. Hilary has also acted as a consultant for BBC Academy, training the factual development teams.

This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions to the panel by using the Q&A feature.
