About the Event

When sharp science student Asli meets charismatic Saeed in the mid 90’s, it’s love at first sight. The lovers marry, and Asli swears to be true to Saeed and never betray his secrets. Their future looks bright, but as the twenty-first century dawns, Saeed makes a decision that will not only shatter Asli’s dreams, but shake the whole world to the core.

Joining us for this event will be director, Anne Zohra Berrached, discussing her recent film Copilot. In conversation with Raisah Ahmed, Anne will be sharing vision for the story and offering behind the scenes insight to the making of film.

Attendees will also be offered the option to select a ticket to view Copilot. A link and access code will be shared ahead of the event. In order to receive a screening link, you must book a ticket by 18:00 on Monday 06 December.

Anne Zohra Berrached was born in Erfurt, Germany. After receiving her degree in social education, she worked as a theatre pedagogue in London for two years. She finished her film studies at Filmakademie Baden – Wü. Her documentary short film Heilige & Hure(2010) participated in more than 80 film festivals throughout the world. Her first feature film Two Mothers (2013) won the Dialogue en perspective award at the Berlinale. 24 Weeks, Anne’s second feature film, premiered in Berlinale Competition in 2016 and received the German Film Award in Silver.

Raisah Ahmed is a Scottish Asian Muslim Writer/Director, currently working across TV and film. She has been long listed twice for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and is currently in development with Film4 & Producer Zorana Piggott on a WW1 feature. Writing credits include CBeebies shows Feeling Better, Molly and Mack, and Torc award winning Control, a BBC The Social phone drama. Alumni of the EIFF Talent Lab 2014, Raisah had her first commissioned short, Meet Me By The Water, premiere at EIFF 2016. She has directed on BBC 3’s The Break III, CBBC’s Sparks and most recently on CBBC's Princess Mirror-Belle.

This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask their questions to the panel by using the Q&A feature.
