About the Event
Inseparable sisters raised in a small town on the Irish border, Lauren and Kelly’s lives were shattered with the mysterious death of their mother. Left to pick up the pieces after her sister abruptly disappeared, Lauren is suddenly confronted with the family’s dark and traumatic past when Kelly returns home after being reported missing for a whole year. With the intense sisterhood reignited, Kelly’s desire to unearth their history is not welcomed by all in the small town, as rumours and malice spread like wildfire, threatening to push them over the edge.
Joining us is the film’s writer and director, Cathy Brady, who will be speaking with WFTV Northern Ireland Mentor Scheme Producer, Sarah McCaffrey, to discuss her vision to tell this story rooted in the landscape of borderland Ireland and offering a behind the scenes insight to the development and making of her debut feature film.
Wildfire is available to watch on iTunes, Google Play/ YouTube, Amazon, Microsoft, Rakuten and Sky from Monday 01 November.
Attendees will also be offered the option to select a ticket to view Wildfire. A link and access code will be shared ahead of the event. In order to receive a screening link, you must book a ticket by 14:00 on Friday 05 November.
Screen International ‘Star of Tomorrow’, Cathy Brady won an IFTA for her short films Small Change and Morning. Morningwas also nominated for European Academy Award for Best short.
Cathy directed the first series of Can't Cope, Won't Copefor RTE/BBC3. Cathy’s debut feature Wildfire, which she wrote and directed, was selected for Toronto Film Festival 2020 and London Film Festival 2020, where she won IWC Schaffhausen Filmmaker Bursary Award. Wildfire won the IFTA for best director and female lead performance at the 2021 awards.
Host, Sarah McCaffrey is the Mentoring Producer for the WFTV Mentor Scheme in Northern Ireland, and also works within the Business Affairs team at BBC Children’s. Until 2017 she was the Senior Channel Management Executive at ITV in Northern Ireland (UTV) and has a variety of production and business affairs experience in drama, digital, animation and children’s content.

How will the online event work?
This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.
Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask their questions to the panel by using the Q&A feature.
