Join WFTV for a conversation with the team behind Channel 4 drama The Gathering.

A violent attack on a teenager at an illegal beach rave sends shockwaves of suspicion through a Merseyside community. Each episode details the events leading up to the attack from a fresh perspective, unpacking the rivalries and relationships of a disparate group of teens and their parents. As their secrets and lies are laid bare, the truth behind the attack emerges.

Joining the panel will be writer Helen Walsh, producer Laura Cotton and cast Eva Morgan and Sadie Soverall who will be offering a behind the scenes insight to the making of the series.

The Gathering is available to watch on Channel 4 now.

Laura Cotton

Laura Cotton joined World Productions in April 2020 as Head of Development for the Welsh office. Most recently, she has worked closely with writer Helen Walsh, executive producing The Gathering, a character-led whodunnit. Before joining World, Laura was Head of Development at Hillbilly Films. Her other credits include script editing on Belonging and Crash (BBC Wales), Being Human (BBC Three) and Ellen (Channel 4). She also produced the comedy-drama series Cara Fi (Love Me) for S4C. Additionally, Laura proudly served on Channel 4’s new-talent initiatives Coming Up and 4Stories, selecting and nurturing new voices in TV drama from underrepresented backgrounds.

Helen Walsh

Helen Walsh is an acclaimed novelist, screenwriter, and director. Born in Warrington, she moved to Barcelona at sixteen and returned to Liverpool in her early twenties, where she now resides.

Helen’s award-winning TV debut is The Gathering, a six-part drama produced by World Productions, which launched in May 2024. Her bestselling novel, The Lemon Grove, is also being developed for television. Helen's controversial first novel, Brass, won the Betty Trask Prize in 2005. Her second novel, Once Upon a Time in England, won the Somerset Maugham Prize in 2009. In 2016, Helen was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit following her debut feature, The Violators.

Eva Morgan

Eva is an actor and creative from Liverpool. Graduating from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with an Acting BA (CDT). The Gathering is Eva’s acting debut. She has gone on to become critically acclaimed, with reviews praising her performance and awarding the series four-star reviews. Additionally, Eva won Best Actress at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival's Golden Nymph Awards.

Sadie Soverall

Highlighted by British Vogue as 'one of the most promising acting talents of the future', Sadie Soverall stars as elite gymnast, Jessica, in Channel 4’s The Gathering. This year, Sadie also made her West End debut in Benedict Andrews’ staging of the Chekhov classic The Cherry Orchard at the Donmar Warehouse.

Sadie can now be seen in the post-apocalyptic thriller Arcadian, alongside Nicolas Cage. She also featured as Annabel, with Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan, in Emerald Fennell’s critically acclaimed Saltburn. For television she is familiar for her standout role of 'Beatrix' in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga.

How will the online event work?

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session.
