How can you make your pitch stand out in the global film market? With the rise of multiple streaming platforms and the competition for audiences ever greater, being able to give a strong pitch has never been more essential.
Run by Marian Sanchez Carniglia, this masterclass will take place over two evenings. Marian, will be joined by two of her colleagues, Ren Pereira and Laura Seixas, and will share the successful pitching and storytelling method that she has developed over her career.
Marian Sanchez Carniglia is an internationally recognised pitching and storytelling expert. She is also a producer, teacher and film consultant and has worked alongside legendary directors including Ron Howard, Bryan Singer, The Coen Brothers and James Cameron and across multiple studios including Fox, Sony and Paramount Pictures. Marian developed her own method, presenting three core branches of pitching and, after years of crafting and practising her philosophy, she published her teachings in a book – ‘Entrenamiento para Aurigas’– a manual on how to apply storytelling and pitching techniques for successful career management. Currently available in Spanish, English translation in the works and coming soon.
Laura Seixas is an award-winning Portuguese film director. She has directed several short-films, including Belonging and Let There Be Light. Recently she developed and co-directed the award winning mini-series Dreaming Whilst Black with 4Quarter Films for which she received several directing awards. The series has been selected for over 33 festivals and received 65 nominations and 36 wins. Laura has recently been developing several projects including her first feature, A Carrinha, an international co-production with Portuguese company Take it Easy Films, as well as her second, entitled Salomeé, with USA-based production house Foreign Nationals. Laura is currently collaborating with her mentor Marian Sanchez Carniglia on her Storytelling Studio.
Born in London to Brazilian parents and subsequently raised in Rome, Renata Pereira (Ren for short) is a self-proclaimed citizen of the world. She co-wrote the short A Mother’s Heart, which was nominated for best original screenplay at Madrid International Film Festival 2014. That same year she joined London-based production company Big Light, spearheaded by Frank Spotnitz (The X Files, The Man in The High Castle) initially on a work experience placement that soon became permanent and she developed her skills in script editing, story development, copywriting and translating.
