About the Event

Join WFTV in Belfast for in person networking and the opportunity to hear from BBC Northern Ireland Commissioning Executive, Mary McKeagney.

Mary will be discussing her journey into the industry, recent commissions including dramas Hope Street and St. Mungo’s and documentaries such as Patrick Kielty: 100 years of Union, her thoughts on what makes a great show and sharing insights on how to get a project commissioned.

Following the talk there will be the opportunity to network with WFTV members and colleagues from the industry.

18:30-19:00: Arrivals and check in

19:00-20:00: Meet the Commissioner with Mary McKeagney

20:00-21:00: Networking with WFTV members and industry colleagues

Speakers

Mary McKeagney, Commissioning Executive, BBC Northern Ireland

Mary began her TV career at UTV and has worked at RTE and in the Independent Sector as a Producer/Director, Series Producer and multi-camera director over 25 years. She joined the BBC in 2007 and is a multi-award winning programme maker across various genres including entertainment, documentary and Current Affairs.

She has executive produced specialist factual, ob-doc, entertainment and drama, and joined the BBC Commissioning team in 2021.

Some of her projects since then have included dramas Hope Street and St. Mungo’s, network entertainment series The Fast and the Farmer-ish and Stitch Please! and documentaries such as Patrick Kielty:100 years of Union, Murder in the Badlands and Return to the Bonfire.
