About the Event
Alongside calls for the film and TV industry to tackle bullying and harassment, productions are being urged to look at the duty of care of talent and crew when filming hyper-exposed and intimate scenes. In recent years, the role of the intimacy coordinator has helped to change the landscape by introducing guidance, practices and control measures that productions can put in place when filming scenes with intimacy.
In this event Intimacy Coordinator and Chair of Bectu’s Intimacy Coordinators Branch, Yarit Dor, will introduce the role of an intimacy coordinator and how it works with departments across production at all stages of a shoot to support artists and crew. Yarit will share recommended guidelines and practices as well as further worldwide industry resources.
This session is for all members working across production and with talent who would like to learn how their departments can work with intimacy coordinators, or for productions with smaller budgets, to gather recommended guidance in order to create a safer process for shooting scenes with intimacy.
Yarit Dor, Intimacy Coordinator
Intimacy Coordinator Yarit Dor worked on shows for BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sky TV, Netflix, FX, Starz, HBO, Amazon and features. She is co-director of Moving Body Arts and chair of Bectu’s Intimacy Coordinators Branch. She contributed to guidelines by Equity and Directors UK and is a visiting tutor in film schools such as NFTS.
Starting in theatre, Yarit was first credited as an Intimacy Director in 2017 and in May 2019 transferred her practice to screen as intimacy coordinator for the BAFTA nominated series Adult Material.
She co-founded Intimask, a company developing specialised modesty garments with a variety of skin tones, sizes and barriers. And in 2020, to help raise diversity & inclusion in the role and to remove financial barriers, she led the first fully funded UK mentoring scheme for intimacy coordinators from underrepresented groups funded by the Film & TV Charity Fund and supported by ScreenSkills.
