About the Event
To spotlight and support emerging female writing talent in film and TV last year WFTV hosted the third Screenwriters' Lab in memory of Kay Mellor. Join us for this special event to meet the writers of the 2025 WFTV Kay Mellor Screenwriters’ Lab.
The five-day lab brought together 13 screenwriters in September 2025 at the Arvon Foundation’s house The Hurst. Set against the backdrop of the Shropshire hills, the week offered an immersive environment to explore the craft of screenwriting, foster collaboration and build connections.
Hear their experience of taking part in the programme, alongside live readings of some of their work read by professional actors from the WFTV membership. Following the showcase there will be drinks and the opportunity to network with members and industry colleagues.
