About the Event

Short Film Club is an event series spotlighting some of the best short films for WFTV members.

Showcasing the work of filmmakers based around a theme, you will have the opportunity to watch the films selected for the Short Film Club, hear from the creators behind them and join in the conversation.

Hosted by WFTV and in partnership discover.film, a global streamer dedicated to short form content, for February we’re spotlighting comedies with a selection of short films exploring moments of humour in love and heartbreak.

Chaired by Jaine Green, we will be joined by the filmmakers Tamar Glezerman and Abby Pierce to discuss Fill Your Heart with French Fries and Eat Your Heart Out, offering an insight to the making of the films from development to production.

Films for WFTV Short Film Club:

FILL YOUR HEART WITH FRENCH FRIES

When a woman breaks up with her partner at a fast-food restaurant, she’s too depressed to leave.  A week later she is still there, but now the world is watching. Award-winning American unromantic comedy.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT

Everyone knows falling in love means giving your heart away. A bride-to-be must retrieve her broken heart from her first love.

Speakers

Tamar Glezerman is a writer and director from Tel-Aviv, living and working in Brooklyn. Her award winning satirical comedy short Fill Your Heart with French Fries is based on a Chinese news clipping and stars Lindsay Burdge. Not content with writing and directing, Tamar also reviews films and books and regularly works as an editor where she won an editing Webby for the Bob Dylan interactive video ‘Like a rolling stone’. Tamar edited and consulted on films which screened at Sundance and Berlin festivals.  She is currently developing her first feature film.

Abby Pierce is an award-winning director, writer, actor and teacher.

Her short comedy Eat Your Heart Out is her directorial debut and stars Graham Beckel (Broke Back Mountain, L.A Confidential). It won the Best Comedy award at the New York Shorts International Film Festival. Abby had a recurring role on the hit drama series Chicago Fire, as well as acting in Chicago P.D.. When she isn’t busy making films, Abby teaches drama to the women at Cook County Jail which has provided the inspiration for her next film.
