About the Event

For May’s Writers’ Group host Christina Pickworth will be in conversation with Malak El-Gonemy, Drama Development Executive at FilmNation Entertainment, talking about TV drama development, moving over from non-scripted to scripted, as well as Malak’s new initiative Broadcasting Marginalised Voices, a newsletter in which she facilitates creative conversations with talent from under-represented groups within the British TV and film industry.

Malak El-Gonemy is a British-Egyptian TV Producer based in London. She grew up in Manchester and entered the TV industry in 2016 as a member of the production team on Blue Peter. Since then, she has worked across development, factual entertainment, and scripted drama and comedy. She is currently a Development Executive at FilmNation. She started her newsletter, Broadcasting Marginalised Voices, to provide a platform for talent from underrepresented groups within the industry, offering insights into the journeys of writers, actors, directors, producers and members of crew.
