About the Event

For this month’s writers’ group, we will be joined by comedian, writer and actor, Rose Matafeo.

In conversation with Christina Pickworth, Rose will be discussing her career journey and breaking into the UK industry, balancing the roles of being a comedian, writer and actor, the experience of creating and starring in her recent hit comedy sitcom Starstruck and share an insight to her writing process.

There will also be time at the end of the discussion to ask questions during the Q&A.

Rose Matafeo is a comedian, writer and actor from New Zealand.

Rose’s critically acclaimed show Horndog won the best comedy show award at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was nominated for the best show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The show was recorded as a special for HBO MAX and has also been released on the BBC.

Rose is a regular face on TV having featured on shows including Have I Got News For You (BBC One), Jon Richardson’s Ultimate Worrier (Dave), 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4), There’s Something About Movies (Sky One), and The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice (Channel 4) amongst others in the UK. She was also a contestant on series nine of Taskmaster (Dave/Channel 4).

In the US, she also performed a stand-up slot on Conan (TBS) and in New Zealand she is the lead writer and star of the sketch show Funny Girls (TV3) which is in its third series.

Her sitcom, Starstruck, which she has written and stars in premiered on BBC One and BBC3 in the UK and on HBO Max in the US. It has been picked up internationally across the globe, including by ABC in Australia, and TVNZ in New Zealand.

How will the online event work?

This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask their questions to the panel by using the Q&A feature.
