About the Event

For this month’s writers’ group host Christina Pickworth will be in conversation with screenwriter Sarah Phelps (The Sixth Commandment, A Very British Scandal).

Sarah will be discussing her journey into the industry and career so far, as well as creating and writing her most recent factual drama series The Sixth Commandment, which tells the story of how the meeting of an inspirational teacher, Peter Farquhar (Timothy Spall), and a charismatic student, Ben Field (Éanna Hardwicke), set the stage for one of the most complex and confounding criminal cases in recent memory.

Sarah will also be sharing insight to her writing process and bringing to screens adaptations such as The Pale Horse, The Dublin Murders and The Cuckoo’s Calling.

Sarah Phelps is a screenwriter and has also written for theatre, radio and TV. Sarah is the writer and creator of the recent BBC factual drama series The Sixth Commandment, other credits include A Very British Scandal, The Pale Horse, The Dublin Murders and Ordeal By Innocence.

Christina Pickworth, Agent, Imagine Talent

Christina is an agent for writers and directors at a small, bespoke agency Imagine Talent, with a list that focuses on emerging talent and female voices. Christina has written feature films, consulted for production companies and financiers, and freelanced at United Agents, as well as spending several years working in film development finance for a fund that invested in 300 British film projects over three years. Christina has previously sat on the selection committee for the BAFTA Rocliffe screenwriting competitions, and she consults for Stage 32, Industrial Scripts and Reel One Entertainment.

How will the online event work?

This event will be live streamed via Zoom.us. Viewing details will be sent via your confirmation.

Attending participants will not be visible to others and will be muted throughout the session. After the talk, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask their questions to the panel by using the Q&A feature.
