WFTV: Mentoring Promo Brief

WFTV Mentoring Promo Video - Creative Brief

About WFTV

Women in Film and Television UK (WFTV) is the leading membership organisation for women working across film, television, and digital media. Our mentoring programme is a flagship initiative, offering unparalleled access, guidance and career support to women on their professional journey.

Project Overview

We are seeking a filmmaker to create a short promotional film for WFTV’s mentoring programme. The film should strengthen the scheme’s positive reputation, clearly communicate its value, and emotionally resonate with prospective mentees, mentors, and industry partners.

Whilst the film’s primary function is to promote the scheme, we would like it to be creative and story-led.

Objectives

  • Increase the visibility of both WFTV and our mentoring programme

  • Highlight the exceptional access mentees receive to senior, established industry figures

  • Capture the transformative impact of mentoring on confidence, connection, and career progression

  • Address the realities of working in film and television as a woman

  • Be a positive and affirming account on the power of mentoring

  • Keep content evergreen – we'd like to use these promotional clips for the next 2-3 years of the programme

Audience

  • WFTV Members

  • Women working in film, TV and screen industries who are prospective WFTV members/mentees outside of our existing networks

  • Industry professionals

  • Funders, partners, and stakeholders

Creative Direction

As a creative organisation, we are keen for the piece to go beyond traditional promotional content and embrace narrative story telling.

We are particularly interested in exploring:

  • The isolation many women experience working in film and television

  • Challenges of navigating the industry without support or guidance

  • The power of mentoring to build confidence, community and momentum

  • Visually engaging and creative expressions of these themes

Tone

  • Authentic and emotionally engaging

  • Professional, but warm

  • Honest about struggle, but ultimately hopeful and positive

References

We’re looking to fuse informational and promotional content with story-led narratives; a hybrid of the two references.

Practical Considerations

  • Availability to film in London on 22nd/23rd January 2026

All new mentees will be on site together making this a prime filming opportunity

  • One other filming date (TBC) to interview mentors

Deliverables

  • One promotional film (approx. 2-3 minutes)

  • One promotional cut-down film (approx. 60 secs)

  • 4 x social media clips (approx. 30 secs), delivered in both vertical and square formats

  • Content delivered in both subtitled and non-subtitled formats

  • All sound and music cleared for use in content

Budget

  • £2,500 for all final deliverables

Delivery

Final project delivered with two rounds of edits from WFTV

Timeline

Timeline is flexible and can be adapted around our filmmaker’s existing commitments, but final delivery date will be circa May 2026.
