Notice of Data Security Incident

We are reaching out with an important message about your data held with WFTV.

On Monday 3 August, Women in Film and Television (UK) was informed of a cyber-security incident affecting Beacon, our CRM provider (Customer Relationship Management software).

Beacon has advised that an unauthorised third party gained access to its platform using compromised credentials. While Beacon’s investigation is ongoing, they have advised us to assume that all data stored within its system prior to 27 July 2026 may have been accessed.

The team at WFTV understand that this news is concerning and we are very sorry for any worry it may cause. Protecting the personal information of our members, supporters, and partners is extremely important to us. We have recently made significant investments in our digital infrastructure to improve our security, so we are particularly disappointed by this news.

Beacon has advised that no passwords or payment details were compromised. However, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant regarding unexpected emails or messages, particularly phishing attempts that may use personal information to appear genuine. We also encourage affected parties to be wary of emails, telephone calls, or messages claiming to be from WFTV or other trusted organisations.

Since being notified, we have been working closely with Beacon to understand the nature and scope of the incident. We are following appropriate data protection procedures and have reported the incident to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

At this point, there is no evidence that any WFTV data has been published or misused.

Affected parties can follow live updates from Beacon via their live incident report.

Once again, we are truly sorry for concern or inconvenience this incident may cause. Protecting your trust and safeguarding your information is of utmost importance to us, and we will continue to update as Beacon’s investigation progresses.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at admin@wftv.org.uk.
