Women in Film and Television UK has opened applications for the 2022 WFTV Four Nations Mentoring Scheme for mid-career women working in film, television and the creative media.
The scheme is designed for mid-career women looking to take a step in their career. WFTV welcome applicants from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales from all disciplines from across the film, television and digital media industry.
It will select 41 mentees for the 2022 programme which starts in March. The scheme will run for seven months, during which time each of the participants are paired up with senior industry professionals for one-to-one mentoring alongside peer-to-peer training and bespoke career and personal development workshops.
Former mentee success stories include Head of Amazon Studios, Europe, Georgia Brown, Commissioning Editor at E4, Mel Bezalel, Talent Acquisition at Netflix, Sian Whomes, Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Global, Serena Llloyd Smith, Series Producer and Co-Director of Deaf and Disabled People in TV, Caroline O’Neill, Assistant Commissioner, BBC Drama Commissioning, Alice Ramsey, Development Consultant at Merman, Janet Awe and Scriptwriter, Miranda Walker.

Mentors from previous schemes include Writer, Sally Wainwright OBE, Creative Director at Apple, Jay Hunt, Development Executive at Amazon Studios, Fozia Khan, Director, Phillippa Lowthorpe, CEO of Wonderhood Studios, David Abraham, Director, Sarah Gavron, Journalist, Ellie Flynn, Comedian and Actress, Jocelyn Jee Esien and Director of Photography, Seamus McGarvey.
The England scheme is run in association with ScreenSkills and is supported by BBC, UKTV, Channel 4, Eon, Panalux and Panavision and International Women’s Network NBCUniversal. The schemes in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are supported by Netflix.
Heading up the scheme is WFTV’s Director of Mentoring, Tracy Forsyth, who is also a creative mentor at Channel 4 Indie Growth Fund and an Executive Coach. WFTV Mentoring Producers are Karen Kelly in Scotland, Hannah Corneck in Wales and Sarah McCaffrey in Northern Ireland.
